Joe and Anne McMahon Founders and Managing Partners of McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, LLC
Married since June of 1970, Joe and Anne McMahon have called Fitch Road home since 1971. Joe's family is local to the Saratoga area and he grew up at the Saratoga backstretch. Anne's family is from Rhode Island. She found her way to Saratoga as an undergraduate at Skidmore College, lured by the riding program at the college and the beauty of Saratoga Race Course. They are the parents of five children (Michael, John, Jane, Kate and Tara), four of whom are married (Mike to Natanya, John to Kate, Jane to Rodrigo and Tara to Mike) and they have eleven grand children!
Joe has been active on the board of the New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc. and he now serves as an appointed Breeder Member of the New York State Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund Board.
Each is active on a daily basis on the farm. They feel it is important to have a "hands on" approach to running their farm. Whether being present at foaling, during the vet rounds, caring for and raising foals, breeding the stallions to the mares, in the hay field or the office, they keep that personal touch in their business.
Joe and Anne are active skiers and also enjoy boating, horse racing and riding. |
